Why Ganga Resides on Lord Shivas Head

Several years later, a king named Sagara magically acquired sixty thousand sons. One day, King Sagar performed a ritual of worship for the good of the kingdom. One of the integral parts of the ritual was a horse, which was stolen by the jealous Indra. Sagara sent all his sons all over the earth to search for the horse. They found it in the nether-world (or Underworld) next to a meditating sage Kapila. Believing that the sage had stolen the horse, they hurled insults at him and caused his penance to be disturbed. The sage opened his eyes for the first time in several years, and looked at the sons of Sagara. With this glance, all sixty thousand were burnt to death.

The souls of the sons of Sagara wandered as ghosts since their final rites had not been performed. When Bhagiratha, one of the descendants of Sagara, son of Dilip, learnt of this fate, he vowed to bring Ganga down to Earth so that her waters could cleanse their souls and release them to heaven.

Bhagiratha prayed to Brahma that Ganga come down to Earth. Brahma agreed, and he ordered Ganga to go down to the Earth and then on to the nether regions so that the souls of Bhagiratha's ancestors would be able to go to heaven. Ganga felt that this was insulting and decided to sweep the whole Earth away as she fell from the heavens. Alarmed, Bhagiratha prayed to Shiva that he break up Ganga's descent.
Gupta era terracotta of Ganga found at Ahichchhatra, UP now in National Museum, New Delhi.

Ganga arrogantly fell on Shiva's head. But Shiva calmly trapped her in his hair and let her out in small streams. The touch of Shiva further sanctified Ganga. As Ganga travelled to the nether-worlds, she created a different stream to remain on Earth to help purify unfortunate souls there. She is the only river to follow from all the three worlds – Swarga (heaven), Prithvi (Earth) and, Patala (netherworld or hell). Thus is called "Tripathagā" (one who travels the three worlds) in Sanskrit language.

Because of Bhagiratha's efforts Ganga descended to Earth and hence the river is also known as Bhagirathi, and the term "Bhagirath prayatna" is used to describe valiant efforts or difficult achievements.

Another name that Ganga is known by is Jahnavi. Story has it that once Ganga came down to Earth, on her way to Bhagiratha, her rushing waters created turbulence and destroyed the fields and the sadhana of a sage called Jahnu. He was angered by this and drank up all of Ganga's waters. Upon this, the Gods prayed to Jahnu to release Ganga so that she could proceed on her mission. Pleased with their prayers, Jahnu released Ganga (her waters) from his ears. Hence the name "Jahnavi" (daughter of Jahnu) for Ganga.

It is sometime believed that the river will finally dry up at the end of Kali Yuga (the era of darkness, the current era) just as with the Sarasvati river, and this era will end. Next in (cyclic) order will be the Satya Yuga or the era of Truth.

The seven streams of Ganga are Bhagirathi, Janhvi, Bhilangana, Mandakini, Rishiganga, Saraswati and Alaknanda which merge into Ganga at Devprayag. The rock on which King Bhagirath is believed to have meditated, is called Bhagirath Shila and is located near the temple of Ganga.

Many other tales are associated with the Ganga and points on it. Hari (Lord Vishnu) himself bathed in its waters at Haridwar, which is so holy that sins as great as the murder of Brahmins may be washed away by bathing here.  Hindus to this day use the water of the Ganga to cleanse any place or object for ritual purposes. Bathing in the Ganga is still the lifelong desire of India's masses, it is their bread and butter and they congregate on its banks for he Sangam, Sagar Mela or Kumbha Mela which are held in axis of rotation dueing auspicious days every few years.

Water from the Ganga has the recursive property that any water mixed with even the minutest quantity of Ganga water becomes Ganga water, and inherits its healing and other holy properties. Also, despite its many impurities, Ganga water does not rot or stink if stored for several days. To this date the water of holy Ganga is believed to have Amrit (nectar) in it. It has been studied by Scientists that the water collected from Ganga at its origin is in a pure state and even after being kept for several years, does not get contaminated.

Falling onto Shiva's head, where she meanders through his tangled locks, the mighty Ganga appears in this world after having been made more sacred by her direct contact with Shiva.   Ganga's fall from heaven is replicated daily in the millions of Hindu temples where the water of the Ganga river is poured over the sacred Shiva Linga. Here it is important to note that the Linga of Shiva is often thought of as incandescent pillar of fire. By cooling the Shiva Linga with her soothing waters, Ganga is in a sense saving the world from Shiva's fiery Linga, whose extreme heat could destroy all life on earth. Bearing her on his head, Shiva becomes the facilitator for Ganga's smooth fall to the earth. But if Shiva saves the world from the power and force of Ganga's torrent, it is also Ganga, who in a similar manner, saves us from Shiva's scorching powers of destruction.

Let us re-enact pouring of holy water on the Shiva Linga on all days and particularly on auspicious MAHASHIVARATHRI DAY and attain the fame and name like Bhagiratha.

Cow is Holy - Equal To GOD- Feed When You See

Millions of Hindus revere and worship cows. Hinduism is a religion that raises the status of Mother to the level of Goddess. Therefore, the cow is considered a sacred animal, as it provides us life sustaining milk. The cow is seen as a maternal figure, a care taker of her people. The cow is a symbol of the divine bounty of earth.

Lord Krishna, one of the most well known of the Hindu deities is often depicted playing his flute amongst cows and dancing Gopikas (milkmaids). He grew up as a cow herder. Krishna also goes by the names Govinda and Gopala, which literally mean “friend and protector of cows.” It is considered highly auspicious for a true devotee to feed a cow, even before eating breakfast oneself.

Throughout the Vedic scriptures there are verses which emphasize that the cow must be protected and cared for. It is considered a sin to kill a cow and eat its meat. Even today in India, there are many states in which the slaughter of cows is illegal. That is why you can find cows roaming freely all over India, even along the busy streets of Delhi and Mumbai.

Ayurveda is a big proponent of the sattvic qualities of milk and dairy products. That is why most Hindus are vegetarian, but not vegan. Fresh, organic milk, yogurt, buttermilk, paneer (homemade cheese) and ghee, are all considered highly nutritious, and an important part of the diet. Not only do these dairy products provide important protein and calcium for our tissues, but are sources of Ojas, which gives our body strength and immunity.

Besides their milk, cows also provide many practical purposes, and are considered a real blessing to the rural community. On the farm, bulls are used to plough the fields and as a means of transportation of goods. Even Lord Shiva’s trusted vehicle is Nandi- the sacred bull.

Cow dung is saved and used for fuel, as it is high in methane, and can generate heat and electricity. Many village homes are plastered with a mud/cow dung mixture, which insulates the walls and floors from extreme hot and cold temperatures. Cow dung is also rich in minerals, and makes an excellent fertilizer. There is a big organic farming movement in India to return to ancient methods of utilizing cow dung to re-mineralize the depleted soil.

In such a spiritual land as India, one can find religious ceremonies taking place at any time and any place. Spiritual “yagnas” are fire ceremonies that performed to thank the Gods and receive their blessings. Cows even play a central role in these fire yagnas or Agnihotras. Scientific research has found that the ritual of burning cow dung and ghee as fuel for these sacred fires, actually purifies the air, and has anti-pollutant and anti-radiation qualities in the environment.

Ayurveda understands that some physical and emotional health crisis can not be healed by diet and herbs alone. They need the deeper and subtler healing of these types of Vedic ritual ceremonies to clear astrological past karma. The holy cow again offers its bounty by providing the ingredients in the Panchamrit, or blessed drink, that is distributed after the ceremony. Panchamrit translates as “sacred ambrosia” or “nectar of the gods” and is made up of 5 items – milk, yogurt, ghee, honey and sugar. By drinking this sweet prasadam, one is infused with the divine energy created during the puja, and is healed.

Best Day To Start Learning New Things -VASANTHA PANCHAMI

Vasanta Panchami is observed on Magha Shukla Panchami, the fifth day in Magha month. This festival is a jubilant occasion in Basara Gnana Saraswati Temple in Andhra Pradesh.

Vidyarambham or Aksharabhyasam is the main ritual in Saraswati temple on Saraswati Panchami during which children between two and three or five years old are initiated into the world of knowledge (into letters).

Aksharabhyasam means ‘initiation of knowledge gaining. Basara Saraswati temple is one of the important venues where Vidyarambham is performed socially. On Basant Panchami, thousands of people visit the temple and initiate learning to their kids.

‘Sri Ganapathaye Namah is the Aksharabhyasam mantra written on sand or on rice and the child writes the mantra again and again for five times. After that ‘Om Saraswathyei Namah is the mantra which is written on the slate.

Devotees believe that Veda Vyasa Maharshi observed severe penance at Basara along the Godavari river bank and installed the idol of Gnana Saraswati Devi. Children are taught their first words on this day (as an auspicious beginning to learning). Schools, colleges etc., (places of learning) organise special worship of Saraswathi.

With Her grace, the mute, it is believed, have been able to speak and people have been blessed with the ability to write or compose poems. Musicians sing here and many even choose to perform here first. Instrumentalists have puja performed for their instruments here. Apart from art and culture, Goddess Saraswathi also showers Her blessings for the education of children.

Notebooks, pencils and pens are kept at the Devi's feet for blessings and then used by the students. A noticeboard asks the students to write their names, address and the roll number on a piece of paper and put it in the hundi after praying for success! It is believed the Goddess blesses them for good and positive results.

The moolavigraham enchants devotees as she is the embodiment of kindness itself. Her expression is so serene and calm even as She is majestic. She is seated on a white lotus in Padmasana, adorned by a pure white silk sari, has a book in Her lower left hand, Her lower right hand showing the chinmudra, Aksharamala in Her right upper hand, and Amrithakalasam in Her left upper hand. Both eyes are full of compassion.

Vasant Panchami is the festival dedicated to Saraswathi, the goddess of learning

SABARIMALA- IMPORTANCE of 18 Divine Steps

Sabarimala - Temple Details :

Sabarimala is the most famous Hindu pilgrimage centre in Kerala and India. At a distance of 63 Kms from Pathanamthitta, this temple is dedicated to Lord Ayyappa. It is one of the most visited pilgrim centers in the world with an estimated 45 - 50 million devotees every year.

At a distance of 146 Kms from Kochi and 159 Kms from Trivandrum, this temple is one of the oldest temples in India, with history of more than 5000 years old. The temple dedicated to Lord Ayyappan here is situated in the midst of 18 hills, at an altitude of about 3000 feet. It is believed that Lord Parasurama installed the idol of Ayyappa at Sabarimala.

The pilgrimage season begins in the month of November and ends in January (the temple remains closed during rest of the year except for the first five days of each Malayalam month). The devotees following Ayyappa Vratam (Ayyappa Maala - a 41 days Vratam with strict restrictions) carry Irumudi Kettu containing traditional offerings to the Lord. Mandalapooja (Nov17th) and Makaravilakku (Jan 14th) are the important events of the temple. Makara Jyothi (a celestial star) appeared on Jan 14th is the most crowded occasion of this temple.

Sabarimala temple has no restrictions of caste and religion. The temple is open to males of all age groups, but women between 10-50 years age group are NOT allowed into the temple. Sabarimala can be reached by 8 KMs trek from Pamba, which is the nearest road point to the temple.

Importance of Sabarimala Divine 18 Steps

SABARIMALA- Importance of 18 Divine Steps are called as  Pathinettapadi (18 divine steps) to the sanctum sanctorium is divine in all aspects. The first three steps depict "Bhoomi, Agni, Vayoo & Akash", 6 to 9 steps for Karmendriya, 10 to 15 for Jhanandriya, 16th for mind 17th Intelligence and 18th Jeevathma Bhava.

Those who cross all these steps are believed to achieve "Punyadarshan". The steep steps are so important and holy that no one can climb them without fasting for 41 days and carrying the holy irrumudi on ones' head. There are many mythological stories associated with the holy Patinettampadi. Some believe the eighteen steps denote the 18 puranas. Some say that 18 weapons with which Lord Ayyappa destroyed the evil denotes the 18 steps. Others are of the belief that the first five steps denotes the indriyas (eyes, ears, nose, tongue and skin).

The next eight steps signifies the ragas (tatwa, kama, krodha, moha, lobha, madha, matsraya, and ahamkara. The next three steps signifies the gunas (satwa, rajas and thamas). The seventeenth and the eighteenth denotes vidhya and ignorance.

The Patinettampadi can be used only twice - once for ascending the temple and once for descending below leaving the hill. Before ascending or descending the steps, pilgrims break coconut as an offering to the steps. One needs to have the sacre Irumudi on head while going up or down the 18 steps. While descending the steps the devotees climb down backwards facing the sanctum sanctorum.

One who climbs the Patinettampadi for 18 times shall plant a sapling of coconut in Sabarimala.

Built on a plateau about 40 feet high, the Ayyappan temple commands a lofty view of the mountains and valleys all around. The ancient temple has been rebuilt after a fire in 1950. Within the confines of the sanctum sanctorium with a copper-plated roof and four golden finials at the top, two mandapams, the belikalpura which houses the altar, the flag-staff replacing the earlier stone image of the deity, sits a beautiful idol of Ayyappa in panchaloha, an alloy of five metals, about one and a half feet tall.

Imporatance of Karthika Somavaram-Monday

Sage explains the process of Karthika Vratham to be observed on Kartika Somvaram. He tells the story about how a dog gets the entry to Kailasam after taking part in Karthika Somvara Vratam

The Day 2 of the Kartika Puranam begins with a discussion about the importance and speciality of Kartheeka Somavaram (the 3 or 4 Mondays that occur in month of Kartheekam).

Kartheeka Somavaram is the most favorite day of Lord Shiva. Men and Women needs to bath in a river, pray to Lord Shiva with Bilvapatram, fast during the day and feast after the moon turns up in the sky in the evening.

They needs to stay awake all night, engage in spirtual discourses and then take a river bath on the next day. This is followed by making donations to the poor depending on ones abilities. If not possible, atleast three brahmins could be fed. In general, it is good if no food items are taken on the

Kartheeka Somavaram day. Doing the Kartheeka Vratam on the Mondays and praying to Lord Shiva would entitle the devotee of Kailasham. Praying to Lord Vishnu will entitle the devotee to Vaikuntham.

The Power of Karthika Somavaram (Monday)

The first Monday of the month of Kartikam is considered very powerful. Read on to know more from the story of the Karkasa, a beautiful girl who turns to a dog and how she returns back to her beautiful body.

The Day 1 of the Kartika Puranam consists of two sections:

Section 1 primary tells us about how Sage Sootha (Sootha maharshi) tells the Kartika Puranam to Saunikadi Maha-rishis and Maharshi Vashistha telling about the rules of the Kartika puranam to King Janaka. The section was elaborated about what to do during the month and how to start about. The beautiful explanations by Vashistha keep readers close to their ears.

Section 2 comprises of a story as a part of the Kartika Somawara Vratham (the first Monday of Kartika Masam). The story is about Nishturi, the daughter of a Brahmin, who falls into bad habits during her teen years. Nisthuri was deep into bad habits that she is often referred as 'Karkasa' by everyone.

As time for marriage comes, Karkasa's father decides to marry her to 'Misra Sharma', a Brahmin from Saurasthra. Misra Sharma is good, humble and a well educated young Brahmin who follows religious traditions with great devotion. Karkasa marries Misra Sharma and because of the humble mentality of Misra Sharma, Karkasa continues to enjoy all she wants to do. As days pass by, she takes more advantage of the gentleness of Misra Sharma and begins to shout at and even beat Misra Sharma. Misra Sharma continues to bear with her even when she does bad things in order not to hamper the good name earned by his family in the society. Karkasa however makes use of the situation and continues to be enjoying in the presence of other men. She even began to have physical relationships with other men disregarding her husband and in-laws.

One day, one of her comforts tells her that they are meeting at odd times because of her husband and that they can enjoy even better when her husband is not there. The same night, Karkasa kills her husband by banging a large hard rock on his head. She even takes the dead body to the outskirts of the city and throws it into an old well. Her in-laws, afraid of her and unable to do anything, remain calm, and runs away from. With no husband and in-laws to stop her, Karkasa felt more freedom and enjoyed even more. She even made men to get her money grabbed from their wives.

As time passed by, her beauty and vigor began to get down. With her blood becoming lighter, she began to be easily prone to diseases. Since she had physical intimacy with many men, she was even prone to sexually transmitted diseases. Soon she lost all her money and began to it find difficult to get food, water, clothing or even a place to stay. The diseases have led her to death. No one in the society came forward to take her to the burial ground.

Upon her death, soldiers from the Yama Lokam - the land of the dead, comes and takes her to Lord Yama, the Lord of Death. Yama Dharmaraja assigns a variety of punishments to her. She is made to stick to a hot-iron pillar as punishment for ignoring her husband and spending time with other men. She is banged in her head with a hot mace for killing her husband. Hot mercury is poured into her ears for shouting at her husband and beating him. Because of her cruel acts, her family in the prior ten ages and the later ten ages were also made to suffer. After suffering in the Yama loka for some ages, she is allowed to be born on earth as a dog for fifteen ages.

In her fifteenth age, she took birth in the land of Kalinga as a dog. She used to stay at the house of a Brahmin. The Brahmin who was following the traditions during the month of Kartikam, at night, has left some food outside his house which the dog eats. As soon as the dog ate the food, she began to get to know her past and began to shout for help. The Brahmin comes out of the house and was first surprised seeing a dog speak. He then enquires what has happened to her. The dog tells him that she was born as a dog for 14 times prior to her current life and that she does not know how she was able to get to know what has happened to her in her past lives.

The Brahmin, using his power, gets to know the whole episode of the dog, and tells it about what has happened in the past. The dog, upon knowing her past, began to beg the Brahmin for Moksha. He then decides to transfer the Punya gained by him on one of his Kartika Somavaram (The Monday of Kartika Masam) to the dog. The dog upon taking the punya, leaves the avatar of the dog and turns in to a beautiful woman.

"Hence, you should follow the Kartika Somavaram", says Vashistha to King Janaka.

Lord Hanuman - Armour- VAJRA KAVACHAM -Meaning

(The armour of Hanuman with five faces.)

“Sri Panchamukha Anjaneya Swami was the main deity of Sri Raghavendra Swami. The
place where he meditated on this five-faced form of Hanuman is now known as
Panchamukhi, wherein a temple for him has been built.

There is also a shrine for Panchamukha Anjaneya Swami at Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu, India.
A 40 feet (12 m) tall monolithic green granite murti of Sri Panchamukha Hanuman has been installed
in Thiruvallur, also in Tamil Nadu. This place was known as Rudravanam in olden times
when many saints and seers had blessed this place with their presence. The Panchamukha
Hanuman Ashram itself was established by a saint called Venkatesa Battar.
Hanuman assumed this form to kill Mahiravana, a powerful rakshasa black-magician and
practitioner of the dark arts during the Ramayana war. Mahiravana had taken
Lord Rama and Lakshmana captive, and the only way to kill him was to extinguish five
lamps burning in different directions, all at the same instant. Hanuman assumed
His Panchamukha form and accomplished the task, thus killing the rakshasa, and
    freeing Rama and Lakshmana.

This form of Hanuman is very popular, and is also known as Panchamukha Anjaneya and
Panchamukhi Anjaneya. (Anjaneya, which means "son of Anjana", is another name of
Hanuman). One of the most famous places of Pligrimage in central India is claimed to be
the Resting Place of Shiri Hanuman Ji is Chitrakoot. The Hanuman Dhara Temple is
situated on the peak of mountain where there is natural rock formation image of Shri
Hanuman inside the cave and a natural stream of water falling on the tail. It is believed
that after the coronation of Lord Ram, Hanuman requested for a permanent place to settle
in the Kingdom of Lord Ram, where his Injury of burns on his tails will be cured. Lord
ram then with his arrow spurred a stream of water on the tip of mountain and asked
hanuman to rest there and water of the stream will fall on his tail to cool down burning
    sensation on his tail.

The access to the cave temple is through stairs starting from bottom of the mountain to its
top. It takes roughly 30 to 40 minutes to reach the temple. Over time the temple has
gained a new name, namely Hanuman Dhara. The most fascinating thing about the
temple is that the cave temple is located on the top of the mountain and water comes in
the stream throughout the year, although the mountain has no permanent source of water
on it like Glaciers or snow coming from the covered mountains of Himalayas.
Other places where statues of Lord Hanuman can be found are:

    1. A 67 foot Murti of Lord Hanuman Ji has been installed at Sankat Mochan Shri Hanuman
    2. Mandir, located in the Punjab town of Phillaur.
    3. A 40 foot Murti of Sri Panchamukha Hanuman has been installed at Tiruvallur,
    4. near Chennai,India.
    5. A 36 foot Murti of Sri Panchamukha Hanuman has been installed
    6. at Panchavatee,Pondicherry, called Viswaroopa Jayamangala Panchamukha SriAnjaaneyaswamy.
    7. A 32 foot Murti of Adhivyadihara Sri Bhaktha Anjaneyaswamy, Nanganallur, Chennai which is molded out of a single rock.
    8. Every Face of Sri Panchamukha Hanuman has significance —
    9. Sri Hanuman faces east. He grants purity of mind and success.
    10. The Narasimha faces south. He grants victory and fearlessness.
    11. The west facing Garuda removes black magic and poisons.
    12. The north facing Varaha, showers prosperity, wealth.
    13. The Hayagriva mukha faces the Sky. But since we cannot see it, it is usually tilted and
    14. shown above Hanuman's face. Hayagriva gives Knowledge and good children.”
    15. This Kavacham is addressed to this fierce form of Hanuman.
To tell the fact as I understood , it is not Sthothra in the normal sense of the
word. It gives large amount of Thanthric manthras aimed at protection. Some people believe that this sloka should not be recited but used to worship the five faced Hanuman. It is written at the end of the stotra
that it was taught by Rama to Sita as per her request. But the first few lines show that this is a version was taught by Garuda, where he mentions that it was created by the Lord of lords.

Gandhian 6 IMPORTANT Principles - Follow

Truth: learning from your own mistakes and conducting experiments on yourself.

Nonviolence: nonresistance connected in a way to religion..

Vegetarianism: carved in the Hindu and Jain traditions in India.

    Brahmacharya: spiritual and practical purity.

    Simplicity: giving up unnecessary spending.

Faith: belief in a Higher power and that all religions are real and are equal.

Gandhian Priniciples in detail with Examples.

Truth: fight your own inner demons, fear and insecurities. Everyone is unique in this world and therefore, one should not compare with others. Be honest with yourself of who you are and what you want. If you think there is something to fix, then fix it.

Nonviolence: control your temper and also your thoughts. What we think, we become and therefore if you always are thinking of hurting someone or feeling extremely angry at someone, those are the vibes you'll be giving to others. Best way to be nonviolent is to think positive and believe that whatever happens, it is for a good reason.

Vegetarianism: not everyone can resist meat, but you can control your consumption. For health reasons, avoiding eating a lot of red meat is a good idea.

Brahmacharya: many of us want to get married and have children or be intimate with someone. Therefore, becoming a brahmacharya might not be possible. However, you could reduce thinking of the opposite sex as an object. You could also wait to be intimate with someone till after marriage.

Simplicity: life in the western countries tends to be quite fast. Do you need the latest fashion clothing or can you wear the clothes you already have? Do you need 50-100 pairs of shoes? Do you need the latest gadgets? Do you need a brand new BMW? Simplicity doesn't mean foregoing all your desires, but not buying something right away or something you don't really need. Simplicity also means being happy with what you are given and have.

Faith: believing that there is someone or something higher than you. You don't need to believe in God, but believing that everyone is equal and you are no less or more than someone else. It is knowing your values, ethics and morals. Faith is not following others blindly especially when someone else is doing something that your heart says is not right.

Kalpeshwar Temple one of the five Panch Kedar Temples

Kalpeshwar Temple is the fifth among the Panch Kedar Temples of Shiva located in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, India. Constructed by Pandavas of Mahabharata, Kalpeshwar Shiva Temple is located at a height of 2200 meters at the Urgam valley of Garwal region of Uttarkhand. The cave passage to the temple in the landscape valley is really a marvelous experience to the visitors. This is a dense forest area where the two rivers Alakananda and Kalpaganga are merged. Urgam valley is famous for its apple orchards and hillside potato fields which add luster to the natural beauty of the temple.

Kalpeshwar Temple of Lord Shiva in Uttarakhand

Unlike other Panch Kedar temples, Kalpeshwar Shiva Temple can be visited all the year round irrespective of the adverse climatic conditions prevailing. The traditional priests of this temple are assumed to be the descendants of Adi Sankaracharya. The divine idol of Kalpeshwar Temple is worshipped in the form of matted tresses of the god and hence Lord Shiva is known by the name Jateshwar or Jadadhar. The Kalpavrisha at this location which is believed to be the fulfilling tree is popular because of the ancient saints who had chosen this venue for their routine meditation.

The Buddha Kedar Temple which is only partly viewed from the potato fields is on the way to the Kalpeshwar temple. One of the Sapta Badri temples known by the name Dyan Badri Temple is also on the route to the holy place. The snow covered mountains, streams, lakes, and vegetation, make the visit to the Kalpeshwar temple a memorable one.

    The route to Kalpeshwar temple:

Trekking to Temple is a very beautiful experience -
National Highway 58 – Rishikesh to Rudraprayag then to Helang
Rudraprayag to Helang is 102 kilometers.

From Helang Trek to Urgam then to Devgaon to Kalpeshwar Temple. Now there is a road up to Devgaon.

It is a nearly 6-hour trek from Helang to Devgaon.
From Devgaon it is around 45-mintue walk to Kalpeshwar Temple. There are two guest houses at Devgaon.

The trek from Helang to Devagaon is steep – Helang is around 4900 ft in altitude and Devgaon is around 8200 ft in altitude.

Great Mahbharath is not FICTION- READ PROOFS

Mahabharata was not a fictional epic but a reality is also evident from the works of many scholars who have done extensive work in this area, and by getting all the facts together what comes out of the whole is the fact that the near about exact dates of the major happenings in the epic has also been identified. This at least proves that the Vedic civilization is a much older phenomenon than perceived by many westerns scholars till date

There is a striking inscription which has been found in the Jain Temple at Aihole prepared by one Chalky King Pulakeshi. It says, according to scholars, that the temple was constructed in 30+3000+700+5 = 3735 years, after the Bharat War and 50+6+500 = 556 years of Shaka era in Kali era. Today Shaka era is 1910.Hence 1910- 556 = 1354 years ago the temple was constructed. Thus the year of inscribing this note is 634 AD. At this time 3735 years had passed from the Bharat War. So the date of the War comes to 3101 BC. This is also the date of Kali Yuga Commencement. Naturally, it is evident that relying on the beginning of Kaliyuga Era and holding that the War took place just before the commencement of Kaliyuga

    The verse inscribed is :
Trinshatsu Trisahasreshu Bhaaratdahavaditaha | Saptabda ShatayukteshuGateshwabdeshu Panchasu | Panchashatasu Kalaukale Shatasu Panchashatsucha | Samatsu Samatitasu Shakaanamapi Bhoobhujaam ||

The verses has been interpreted by considering the clauses of the verse. It says"3030 years from the Bharat War" in the first line, ( Trinshatsu Trisahasreshu Bhaaratdahavaaditaha) where the first clause of the sentence ends. in the secondline, the second clause starts and runs up to the middle of the third linethus ( Saptabda.....Kalaukale) This means 700+5+50 = 755 years passed in the Kali Era. It is clear from the former portion of the verse that 3030 years passed from the Bharat War and 755 years passed from Kali Era. Kali Era started from 3101 BC.755 years have passed so 3101-755 = 2346 BC is the year when 3030 years had passed from the Bharat War. So 2346+3030 = 5376 BC appears to be the date of Bharat War.

The Greek Ambassador Magasthenis has recorded that 138 generations have passed between Krishna and Chandragupta Maurya. Many scholars have taken this evidence, but taking only 20 years per generation they fixed the date of Krishna as2760 years before Chandragupta. But this is wrong because the record is not of ordinary people to take 20 years per generation. In the matter of general public, one says that when a son is born a new generation starts. But in the case of kings, the name is included in the list of Royal Dynasty only after his coronation to the throne.Hence, one cannot allot 20 years to one king. We have to find out the average per king by calculating on various Indian Dynasties. I have considered 60 kings from various dynasties and calculated the average of each king as 35 years.
