Kanakadhara Stotram : Real Story behind this wonderful Stotram
The beautiful story of poor womens devotion -
Adi Sankaracharya was born in kaladi in 8th century when Hinduism had few problems. The Shiva worshippers , vishnu worshippers, ganesha worshippers , has misunderstandings . It is Sankaracharya who organized Hinduism and helped in its upliftment.
Once Sankaracharya was going to few houses to take bhiksha. He came across a hut and asked for bhiksha. ( food ). The women inside the house was embarrassed as a saint has come to her house for food but she is so poor that nothing was available in her house. She searched all the places and finally found an old Amla fruit (Emblic myrobalan) ( nelli kani in tamil, nelli kaya in telugu ). The poor women was feeling shy to give only this little amla fruit to Sankaya but she has immense devotion and don't want to send the saint who came to her house empty handed. She offered the amla fruit in the bowl of Lord Sankaracharya.
Birth of Kanakadhara stotram :
Sankaracharya realized the womens devotion irrespective of being poor. He immediately started singing twenty one slokas praising Goddess Mahalakshmi , praying her to bless the poor women by driving her poverty and grant her riches.
As you sow, So you reap :
Mahalakshmi replied that the lady has not done any good deeds ( helping others in charity ) in her previous birth. so she doesn't deserve riches and is destined to suffer in poverty. Adi sankaraya accepted it but said though the poor lady din't do any good deeds in previous birth, in this birth, she has such a kind heart that irrespective of being poor, she gave this little amla fruit to him and this good deed alone is enough to bless her with all prosperity.
Goddess Mahalakshmi's grace :
Listening to Sankaracharya's beautiful stotra and his arguement that the poor women must be blessed for her good deed in this birth ( offering of little amla fruit ), Mahalakshmi was moved. Friends, here comes the greatness of this Goddess. She really is for devotion and purity of heart. If we always involve in good deeds , always chanting Gods name, we will surely be blessed by Mahalakshmi.
As Sanakaracharya was singing Kanagadhara stotram, Mahalakshmi showered Golden amla fruit like rain infront of the poor womens hut. Imagine, rain of golden fruit showering from sky . How beautiful is this story friends . How beautiful is the devotion of the poor lady and how great is the saint Adi Sankaraya who sang in praise of Mahalakshmi and beyond all this How graceful is this Goddess Mahalakshmi.
Adi Sankaya has sung this "Kanakadhara stotra" for welfare of everyone who is suffering their past karma and suffering in poverty.

All those people who keep faith in Sanatan Dharma, believe Lord Hanuman to be the troubleshooter, and Shani Dev as the God who punishes the wrong. Both these Gods have a close connection with Lord Shiva. While Lord Hanuman is the avatar of Lord Shiva, Shani Dev received Lord Shiva’s powers after intense meditation. Moreover, those who worship Lord Shiva are automatically blessed by Shani Dev.
Apart from these things about both these Gods, there are certain things highlighted in the Shastras, which reveal the powers, characters as well as similarities and differences between these two Gods.
Similarities between Lord Hanuman and Shani Dev as per Shastras:As per Surya Sanhita, Lord Hanuman was born on a Saturday Lord Hanuman is the Rudra avatar and Rudra is another name of Lord Shiva In Hanumanshastranaam, one name is of Shani Dev
Many times in Shastras, the colour of Lord Hanuman is said to be similar to Shani Dev. It is believed that this colour of Lord Hanuman is because of cruel eyes of Shani Dev on him.
Father of Shani Dev, Suryadev, is the teacher of Lord Hanuman. Shani Dev has a fight with his own father, but Suryadev has given a lot of his powers to Lord Hanuman and made him Mahavir.
Shani Dev is considered to be of cruel and unforgiving nature, while Lord Hanuman like Lord Shiva is extremely forgiving. Shani Dev is born from fire, while Lord Hanuman from air (Pavan putra).
It is believed that one should not sell oil on Saturdays; however, offering oil to Lord Hanuman on the same day is considered auspicious.
Early Morning is considered as the best time to worship God. Early morning is also known as "Brahma Mahurat" in the Hindu Mythology. It is regarded that prayers made at this time reach directly to the God. Early Morning Shloka (Sloka) is given here which also serves as the first prayer of the day to the almighty.
" Karaagre Vasate Lakshmi Karamadhye Sarasvati, Karamuule Tu Govinda Prabhaate Karadarshanam, Samudravasane Devi Parvatastanamandale, Vishhnupatni Namastubhyam Paadasparsham Kshamasva Me "
Meaning: The front part of the hands (the finger tips) is credited to Goddess Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth. The middle part or palm is credited to Goddess Saraswati, the Goddess of learning and the root (the part of hand near the wrist) to Govinda. So, every morning, one should have a reverent look at one's hand which represents sincere labor.
I bow to Mother Earth, who has mountains and jungles on her body and whose clothing is made by the ocean. The wife of Lord Vishnu, please pardon me for touching you with my feet.
It is considered propitious to start the day with this sincere prayer.
Ganesha has four arms which symbolize his status as the universal ruler and establish his power over the four categories of beings - those who can live only in water, those who can live in water and on earth, those who can live only on earth and those who can fly in air.
Significance of four : It was god Ganesha who instituted the four castes and the four Vedas.
One hymn in Sri Bhagavat Tattva , says: 'In heaven, this child will establish the predominance over gods,
on earth over men, in the nether world over anti-gods and serpents.
He causes the four principles of the elements to move and is therefore four armed. In one hand, he holds a shell, in another a discus, in the third a club or a sweet and in the fourth a lotus.' Thus, all aspects of Ganesh's form are filled with symbolic meanings.
What does "Vinayaka" Mean
Sathya Sai says, "Who is Vinayaka? In the sloka beginning with the words, Suklaambaradharam Vishnum, only the form of the deity is described. But there is another inner meaning for the name "Vinayaka".
Suklaambaradharam means one who is clad in white. Vishnum means he is all-pervading. Sasivarnam means his complexion is grey like that of ash. Chathurbhujam means he has four arms. Prasannavadanam means he has always a pleasing mien. Sarvavighnopasaanthaye means for the removal of all obstacles.
Dhyaayeth, meditate (on him). Vinayaka is the deity who removes all bad qualities, instills good qualities and confers peace on the devotee who meditates on him Vinayaka means that he is totally master of himself. He has no master above him. He does not depend on anyone. He is also called Ganapathi.
This term means he is the lord of the ganas - a class of divine entities. This term also means that he is the master of the intellect and discriminating power in man. He possesses great intelligence and knowledge. Such knowledge issues from a pure and sacred mind."

“Sri Panchamukha Anjaneya Swami was the main deity of Sri Raghavendra Swami. The place where he meditated on this five-faced form of Hanuman is now known as Panchamukhi, wherein a temple for him has been built.
There is also a shrine for Panchamukha Anjaneya Swami at Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu, India.
A 40 feet (12 m) tall monolithic green granite murti of Sri Panchamukha Hanuman has been installed in Thiruvallur, also in Tamil Nadu. This place was known as Rudravanam in olden times when many saints and seers had blessed this place with their presence. The Panchamukha Hanuman Ashram itself was established by a saint called Venkatesa Battar. Hanuman assumed this form to kill Mahiravana, a powerful rakshasa black-magician and practitioner of the dark arts during the Ramayana war. Mahiravana had taken Lord Rama and Lakshmana captive, and the only way to kill him was to extinguish five lamps burning in different directions, all at the same instant. Hanuman assumed His Panchamukha form and accomplished the task, thus killing the rakshasa, and freeing Rama and Lakshmana.
This form of Hanuman is very popular, and is also known as Panchamukha Anjaneya and Panchamukhi Anjaneya. (Anjaneya, which means "son of Anjana", is another name of Hanuman). One of the most famous places of Pligrimage in central India is claimed to be the Resting Place of Shiri Hanuman Ji is Chitrakoot. The Hanuman Dhara Temple is situated on the peak of mountain where there is natural rock formation image of Shri Hanuman inside the cave and a natural stream of water falling on the tail. It is believed that after the coronation of Lord Ram, Hanuman requested for a permanent place to settle in the Kingdom of Lord Ram, where his Injury of burns on his tails will be cured. Lord ram then with his arrow spurred a stream of water on the tip of mountain and asked hanuman to rest there and water of the stream will fall on his tail to cool down burning sensation on his tail.
The access to the cave temple is through stairs starting from bottom of the mountain to its top. It takes roughly 30 to 40 minutes to reach the temple. Over time the temple has gained a new name, namely Hanuman Dhara. The most fascinating thing about the temple is that the cave temple is located on the top of the mountain and water comes in the stream throughout the year, although the mountain has no permanent source of water on it like Glaciers or snow coming from the covered mountains of Himalayas. Other places where statues of Lord Hanuman can be found are:
A 67 foot Murti of Lord Hanuman Ji has been installed at Sankat Mochan Shri Hanuman
Mandir, located in the Punjab town of Phillaur.
A 40 foot Murti of Sri Panchamukha Hanuman has been installed at Tiruvallur,
near Chennai,India.
A 36 foot Murti of Sri Panchamukha Hanuman has been installed
at Panchavatee,Pondicherry, called Viswaroopa Jayamangala Panchamukha SriAnjaaneyaswamy.
A 32 foot Murti of Adhivyadihara Sri Bhaktha Anjaneyaswamy, Nanganallur, Chennai which is molded out of a single rock.
Every Face of Sri Panchamukha Hanuman has significance —
Sri Hanuman faces east. He grants purity of mind and success.
The Narasimha faces south. He grants victory and fearlessness.
The west facing Garuda removes black magic and poisons.
The north facing Varaha, showers prosperity, wealth.
The Hayagriva mukha faces the Sky. But since we cannot see it, it is usually tilted and
shown above Hanuman's face. Hayagriva gives Knowledge and good children.”
This Kavacham is addressed to this fierce form of Hanuman.
To tell the fact as I understood , it is not Sthothra in the normal sense of the word. It gives large amount of Thanthric manthras aimed at protection. Some people believe that this sloka should not be recited but used to worship the five faced Hanuman. It is written at the end of the stotra that it was taught by Rama to Sita as per her request. But the first few lines show that this is a version was taught by Garuda, where he mentions that it was created by the Lord of lords.
