Best Day To Start Learning New Things -VASANTHA PANCHAMI

Vasanta Panchami is observed on Magha Shukla Panchami, the fifth day in Magha month. This festival is a jubilant occasion in Basara Gnana Saraswati Temple in Andhra Pradesh.

Vidyarambham or Aksharabhyasam is the main ritual in Saraswati temple on Saraswati Panchami during which children between two and three or five years old are initiated into the world of knowledge (into letters).

Aksharabhyasam means ‘initiation of knowledge gaining. Basara Saraswati temple is one of the important venues where Vidyarambham is performed socially. On Basant Panchami, thousands of people visit the temple and initiate learning to their kids.

‘Sri Ganapathaye Namah is the Aksharabhyasam mantra written on sand or on rice and the child writes the mantra again and again for five times. After that ‘Om Saraswathyei Namah is the mantra which is written on the slate.

Devotees believe that Veda Vyasa Maharshi observed severe penance at Basara along the Godavari river bank and installed the idol of Gnana Saraswati Devi. Children are taught their first words on this day (as an auspicious beginning to learning). Schools, colleges etc., (places of learning) organise special worship of Saraswathi.

With Her grace, the mute, it is believed, have been able to speak and people have been blessed with the ability to write or compose poems. Musicians sing here and many even choose to perform here first. Instrumentalists have puja performed for their instruments here. Apart from art and culture, Goddess Saraswathi also showers Her blessings for the education of children.

Notebooks, pencils and pens are kept at the Devi's feet for blessings and then used by the students. A noticeboard asks the students to write their names, address and the roll number on a piece of paper and put it in the hundi after praying for success! It is believed the Goddess blesses them for good and positive results.

The moolavigraham enchants devotees as she is the embodiment of kindness itself. Her expression is so serene and calm even as She is majestic. She is seated on a white lotus in Padmasana, adorned by a pure white silk sari, has a book in Her lower left hand, Her lower right hand showing the chinmudra, Aksharamala in Her right upper hand, and Amrithakalasam in Her left upper hand. Both eyes are full of compassion.

Vasant Panchami is the festival dedicated to Saraswathi, the goddess of learning

2 Powerful Shakthis of LORD GANESH

Sathya Sai says, "What is the esoteric meaning of Ganesha's elephant head? The elephant is noted for its acute intelligence. Ganesha's elephant head symbolizes sharpness of intellect and the highest power of discrimination. Because of the purity of his intellect, Vinayaka is also called the giver of buddhi (intellect).

He responds to the prayers of devotees and hence is known as Siddhi Vinayaka (the Vinayaka who grants what is sought). In a forest, when an elephant moves through the jungle, it clears the way for others to follow. Likewise, by invoking Ganesha, the path is cleared for our undertakings. The elephant's foot is so large that when it moves it can stamp out the footprints of any other animal. Here, again, the symbolic meaning is that all obstacles in the way will be removed when Ganesha is accorded the place of honor.

The journey of life is made smoother and happier by the grace of Ganesha. When an elephant moves among the bushes, its path turns into a regular passage for all animals. It is thus a pacesetter for all animals." Similarly, Ganesha clears the path leading to Wisdom, Intellect, and Inner Peace.

Two Shaktis Of Ganesh

Ganesha has two Siddhis (symbolically represented as wives or consorts). Siddhi (success) and Riddhi (prosperity). Wherever there is Ganesh, there is Success and Prosperity~ Wherever there is Success and Prosperity~ there is Sri Ganesh.

Ganesh as the Scribe

Ganesha is accepted as the god of learning and the Patron Deity of letters and scriptures. Ganesh's tusk is used by him in the writing of the epic, the Mahabharata. When Vyasa wanted to compose the Mahabharata, Brahma suggested Ganesha be his scribe. Vyasa agreed and Ganesha brought his broken tusk as a writing quill. Vyasa dictated the entire epic in verse. Ganesha recorded every word for Gods and men alike.

The Kings Who Ruled SRI KRISHNA DWARAKA ARE.

Here is a list of some of important kings who ruled Sri Krishna Dwaraka, according to the Ancient Indian History, with the number of  years ruling.

  1. Chandragupta Mourya 330-298 B.C. 32 years.
  2. Bindusar 298-273 B.C. 25 years.
  3. Ashok 273-232 B.C. 41 years.
  4. Pushyamitra Shunga 190-149 B.C. 41 years.
  5. Chandragupta Gupta 308-330 A.D. 22 years.
  6. Samudragupta 330-375 A.D. 45 years.
  7. Vikramaditya 375-414 A.D. 39 years.
  8. Kumargupta 414-455 A.D. 41 years.
  9. Harsha 606-647 A.D. 41 years.
Total ---------327 years.

The average is 327/9 = 36.3 years.

Multiplying 138 generations by 35 years we get 4830 years before Chandragupta Mourya. Adding Chandrgupta's date 320 B.C. to 4830 we get 5150 B.C. as the date of Lord Krishna.

Megasthenis, according to Arian, has written that between Sandrocotus to Dianisaum 153 generations and 6042 years passed. From this data, we get the average of 39.5 years per king. From this we can calculate 5451 years for 138generations. So Krishna must have been around 5771 B.C.

Pliny gives 154 generations and 6451 years between Bacchus and Alexander. This Bacchus may be the famous Bakasura who was killed by Bhimasena. This periodcomes to about 6771 years B.C.

Thus Mahabharata period ranges from 5000 B.C. to 6000 B.C. and Dwarka fits into this scenario perfectly.

Mahabharata mentions the ancient tradition as 'Shravanadini Nakshatrani',i.e., Shravan Nakshatra was given the first place in the Nakshatra- cycle (Adi-71/34and Ashvamedh 44/2) Vishwamitra started counting the Nakshatras from Shravan when he created 'Prati Srushti'. He was angry with the old customs. So he started some new customs. Before Vishvamitra's time Nakshatras were counted from the one which was occupied by the sun on the Vernal Equinox.

Vishvamitra changed this fashion and used diagonally opposite point i.e.Autumnal Equinox to list the Nakshtras. He gave first place to Shravan which was atthe Autumnal Equinox then. The period of Shravan Nakshatra on autumnal equinoxis from 6920 to 7880 years B.C. This was Vishvamitra's period at the end of Tretayuga. Mahabharat War took place at the end of Dwapar yuga. Subtracting the span of Dwapar Yuga of 2400 years we get 7880 - 2400 = 5480 B.C. as the date of Mahabharat War.
