Dwadasa Jyotirlinga Stotra or Dwadasa Jyotir Linga Stotram is a beautiful prayer addressed to the 12 Jyotirlinga shrines of Lord Shiva. Dwadasa Jyotriling Stotra was written by Guru Adi Shankaracharya. Jyotirlingam (also spelled Jyotirling or Jyothir Linga) literally means "Lingam of Light". There are twelve Jyotirlinga shrines in India and the location of the shrines is mentioned in the Shiva Purana. Legends say that Lord Shiva manifested himself on the night of Arudhra festival (Ardra or Arudra darshan festival).
The 12 Jyotirlinga shrines are Somanath (Gujarat), Srisailam (Andhra Pradesh), Mahakal (Madhya Pradesh), Omkareshwar (Madhya Pradesh), Kedarnath (Uttarakhand), Bhimashankar (Sahyadri hills of Maharashtra), Kashi Vishwanath Temple (Uttar Pradesh), Trimbakeshwar (Maharashtra), Vaidyanath Jyotirlinga Temple (Deogarh), Nageswar Jyothirlinga Temple (Maharashtra), Rameswaram (Tamil Nadu), and Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga Shrine (Maharashtra).
