Vivekanandas Great Speech in Chicago

 Swami Vivekananda's Speech in Chicago

If you are searching for Swami Vivekananda's speech at Chicago (USA), then you have arrived at the right
place.

Here is the complete speech delivered by Swami Vivekananda in Chicago.
Swami Vivekananda Chicago Speech
WELCOME ADDRESS - Chicago, Sept 11, 1893
Sisters and Brothers of America,

It fills my heart with joy unspeakable to rise in response to the warm and cordial welcome which you have
given us. I thank you in the name of the most ancient order of monks in the world; I thank you in the name of
the mother of religions, and I thank you in the name of millions and millions of Hindu people of all classes and
sects.

My thanks, also, to some of the speakers on this platform who, referring to the delegates from the Orient,
have told you that these men from far-off nations may well claim the honor of bearing to different lands the
idea of toleration.

I am proud to belong to a religion which has taught the world both tolerance and universal acceptance. We
believe not only in universal toleration, but we accept all religions as true. I am proud to belong to a nation
which has sheltered the persecuted and the refugees of all religions and all nations of the earth. I am proud to
tell you that we have gathered in our bosom the purest remnant of the Israelites, who came to Southern India
and took refuge with us in the very year in which their holy temple was shattered to pieces by Roman tyranny.
I am proud to belong to the religion which has sheltered and is still fostering the remnant of the grand
Zoroastrian nation. I will quote to you, brethren, a few lines from a hymn which I remember to have repeated
from my earliest boyhood, which is every day repeated by millions of human beings: "As the different streams
having their sources in different paths which men take through different tendencies, various though they
appear, crooked or straight, all lead to Thee."
Page 1/2

The present convention, which is one of the most august assemblies ever held, is in itself a vindication, a
declaration to the world of the wonderful doctrine preached in the Gita: "Whosoever comes to Me, through
whatsoever form, I reach him; all men are struggling through paths which in the end lead to me."
Sectarianism, bigotry, and its horrible descendant, fanaticism, have long possessed this beautiful earth. They
have filled the earth with violence, drenched it often and often with human blood, destroyed civilization and
sent whole nations to despair. Had it not been for these horrible demons, human society would be far more
advanced than it is now. But their time is come; and I fervently hope that the bell that tolled this morning in
honor of this convention may be the death-knell of all fanaticism, of all persecutions with the sword or with the
pen, and of all uncharitable feelings between persons wending their way to the same goal.

AMMA - Mata Amrtanandamayi Devi - The Hugging Saint of India

Mātā Amṛtānandamayī Devī (born as Sudhamani Idamannel

Amritanandamayi is an Indian Swamini from Parayakadavu (now partially known as Amritapuri), Alappad Panchayat, Kollam District, Kerala in 1953 in the state of Kerala. Born to a family of fishermen, she was the third child of Sugunanandan and Damayanti. Unlike her parents, Sudhamani had a very dark complexion. At the time of birth, Sudhamani reportedly did not cry; her legs were reportedly found to be in yogic posture (Padmasana) at birth.

Like Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Sudhamani displayed an intense love for God right from very tender age. Her favourite God was Krishna. She started praying, crying and shedding tears seeking the darshan of Krishna and she composed and sang impromptu several devotional songs on Lord Krishna right from childhood.

Her education ended at the age of nine, when she began to take care of her younger siblings and the family domestic work full-time.

As part of her chores, Amritanandamayi gathered food scraps from neighbours for her family's cows and goats, through which she was confronted with the intense poverty and suffering of others. She would bring these people food and clothing from her own home. Her family, which was not wealthy, scolded and punished her. Amritanandamayi also began to spontaneously embrace people to comfort them in their sorrow. It was not permissible for a 14-year-old girl to touch others, especially men. But despite the reaction of her parents, Amritanandamayi continued.[4] Regarding her embracing of others, Amritanandamayi commented, “I don’t see if it is a man or a woman. I don’t see anyone different from my own self. A continuous stream of love flows from me to all of creation. This is my inborn nature. The duty of a doctor is to treat patients. In the same way, my duty is to console those who are suffering.”

Despite numerous attempts by her parents to arrange her marriage, Amritanandamayi rejected their efforts.[6] In 1981, after various seekers had begun residing at her parents' property in Parayakadavu in the hopes of becoming Amritanandamayi's disciples, the Mata Amritanandamayi Math, a worldwide foundation, was founded.Amritanandamayi serves as chairperson of the Math. Today the Mata Amritanandmayi Math is engaged in many spiritual and charitable activities.

In 1987, at the request of devotees, Amritanandamayi began to conduct programs in countries throughout the world. She has done so annually ever since.

on 27 September 1953), primarily known simply as Amma ["Mother"], is a Hindu spiritual leader and guru, who is revered as a saint by her followers. She is widely respected for her humanitarian activities.[1] She has been described as "The Hugging Saint".

The Great saint healing with Music-Sachidananda swamy

Sri Sachnidananda Swamy of mysore ---
"People ask - who are you?

Think and you will experience Swamiji for yourself. Some people say yogi, man of miracles, healer, doctor, yoga man, magician; other say he follows the vedic way; some say confusion man - all are correct. Each person has his own way of looking at me but I say I am not a spiritual business man."

His Holiness Sri Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji of Mysore, one of the greatest spiritual leaders of the present day is an asset to India and the world at large. He is an incarnation of the Great Cosmic Power. Revival of culture, reformation of society and establishing peace and happiness among mankind and transforming into godly men is his mission. His methods include: establishing Dharma.* and Bhakti.* by singing devotional hymns, by reciting the names of the Lord Almighty and inculcating the masses by instilling into them love of God through chorus singing of Bhajans and listening to his meditation-music.

Sri Swamiji is traveling the world to help seekers discover that everything is God. In Him devotees find compassion, love and divine wisdom as He guides them on the path of Yoga sadhana - to discover and realize their true Self. Sri Swamiji conveys an important part of His message through His music, being noted for His namasankirtan. Sri Swamiji's music is devotional and used for spiritual energy transmission. This great master sings self-composed bhajans in Sanskrit, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and English and plays ayurvedic healing ragas on an electronic synthesizer, accompanied by musicians on classical Indian instruments. Devotees around the world claim to have received immense benefit through his concerts, everything from physical healing to spiritual guidance, and great outpourings of divine love.

It is easier to describe what He does than to say who He is. To begin to know who he is one must experience him, one must adopt the attitude of a seeker of God. Sri Swamiji speaks simply and to the heart in fact He is a silent teacher who teaches through your own love and devotion . To experience Him is to begin to know one's own true self.

Great Facts about the Great Saint Raghavendra Swamy

Mantralayam is the place where the great Madhwa saint Sri Raghavendhra Swami (1595-1671) went into Jeeva Samadhi pre-planned in front of a huge crowd of devotees in the year 1671.  He is believed to live in the Jeeva Samadhi for 700 years. Sri Raghavendhra Swami advocated Vaishnavism and the Dvaita philosophy advocated by Madhvacharya.
  • Sri Raghavendhra is considered by his devotees to be a reincarnation of Prahlada, the devotee who was saved by Vishnu in His Narasimha avatar. In his next birth he was Vyasaraja, the rajaguru of Vijayanagara empire and in his next birth was Guru Raghavendhra.

  • The place of Moola Brindhavan was selected by him because he conducted yagna at the very same place when he was Prahalatha.

01-SREE RAGHAVENDRA SWAMY BHAJANALU1
02-SREE RAGHAVENDRA SWAMY BHAJANALU2

  • Sri Raghavendhra got the boon from the Panchamukhi Anjaneyar for remaining on earth in non physical form for 700 years in his Brindhavan to bless people. 350 years have already gone and so we have another 350 years after which he is expected to merge with God. Even today it is said that the sound of Raghavendhra going for bath at the Tungabadra in the early morning hours and doing pooja for Moola Ramar is heard, especially in the month of Danur (Margazhi).

  • While going through Sri Raghavendhra’s life, it was interesting to know that he is more connected to Tamilnadu than to Karnataka:
    • He was born in 1601 in Bhuvanagiri near Chidambaram.
    • He studied under his guru Suseendhra Theerthar at Kumbakonam mutt and after marriage, he returned to the mutt and headed it.
    • Venkatanathan became Sri Raghavendhra, i.e., he got his Sanyasam at Tanjore in the year 1623-24 and stayed at Tanjore for 12 years.
